Save the Date! Coaches' Conference Sept. 5 & 6
After looking at the possible LD topics from NSDA for January/February, several coaches approached the Board asking that we consider narrowing the topics to ONE choice from each of the resolution lists. If you visit the NSDA website and look at the list of choices, you will notice that the January/February topics are all former policy topics and not true philosophical LD style topics.
To mitigate this issue, the board appointed an AdHoc committee to discuss and select what they considered the best choice from each list. The Board then voted to accept the recommendation of the committee. Based on that vote here are the 3 adapted resolutions from the NSDA list of topics for January/February:
Resolved: The United States ought to formally recognize Iraqi Kurdistan.
Resolved: The United States ought to remove all or nearly all of its economic sanctions on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
Resolved: The United States ought to become party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Once the official resolution is selected and announced by NSDA on December 1, I will send out another reminder with the official ISSDA adapted topic for state.
Please note: This vote ONLY applies to the ISSDA state debate tournament and NOT NSDA district tournaments. District LD contestants will need to prepare for the full NSDA topic.
